We visited Houdini Escape Rooms in Harpurhey on Mother’s Day as a family of five (kids ages 11, 16 &18) and had a fantastic time in the Alcatraz room. The mix of puzzles was spot on — challenging enough for the adults and older boys, but still accessible so our 11-year-old could fully get involved. The room was immersive, well designed, and kept us all engaged throughout. A special mention to Kayden, who oversaw our game — he was brilliant. His hints were helpful without giving too much away, and his patience and sense of humour really added to the experience (especially with teenage lads in the mix!). Great venue, great room, and great staff. Five stars all the way — we’ll definitely be back!
We had a great experience today in the Space Break room! Beat escape room we've done. An immersive experience rather than a room full of locks
Really disappointing experience due to awful communication from the staff member running our room. The host (Jost) clearly wasn’t paying attention and even admitted he was running another room at the same time. We kept asking for help and were repeatedly ignored. When he finally came into the room, I asked if we were doing something correctly and his response was “sounds it.” When I followed up with “so you don’t know?” he said he “just isn't in my head right now" He then brought the manual into the room and literally read it out to us, which made it obvious he didn’t actually know the room himself. We kept completing things correctly but nothing would happen, which was frustrating enough — but on top of that he kept apologising saying he “couldn’t hear us” or “wasn’t concentrating,” even though we were repeating things loudly and clearly. It completely ruined the immersion and the experience. Escape rooms rely on good communication and an attentive host, and we got neither. Wouldn’t recommend.
